Strengthening community led initiatives to prevent violence against children and young people in Kasese District through a coordinated approach.

Kasese District in Western Uganda presents a complex social, economic, and political context that significantly influences the prevalence of violence against children.

Kasese is characterized by a diverse population of 847,027 people, Males: 412,521 (48.7% of the total District Population), Females: 434,506 (51.3% of the total District Population) (2024 National census report), with a youthful population (population below 19years) of approximately 34% compared to the [1]National status of 34.8%.[1] https://uganda.unfpa.org/en/news/census-2024-preliminary-results-released-uganda-remains-young-population

The project therefore focuses on addressing the persistent issue of violence and sexual violence against children (VAC) and young people. Violence against children includes all forms of violence against people under 18 years  old such as physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect perpetrated by parents, teachers, peers and other authority figures.

This project with support from CRVPF is being implemented in a cordinated approach in the sub counties of Nyakiyumbu, Nyamwamba Division, Kitswamba and Bweyisumbu sub counties.
